Multidisciplinary Concussion Assessment and Treatment: A Team Approach

Physiotherapy Avantex is proud to partner with Centre de Neurothérapie de Montreal to offer a unique, multidisciplinary and evidence-based team approach to treating acute and persistent concussion symptoms.

Drawing on the skills of an experienced team led by Dr. Simon Tinawi, physiatrist, Dr. Alain Ptito, neuropsychologist and Sarah El Queisi, physiotherapist, our professionals will perform an in-depth assessment of medical status, cognitive function and physical function to identify your specific deficits and needs. 

Following a multidisciplinary team meeting, a comprehensive plan for your care will be formulated by our team. This could include graded exercise therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, balance retraining, cognitive monitoring, medication prescription or adjustment, or further assessments using state-of-the-art technology as indicated. You will also be guided through return-to-work, -sport or -school using established protocols.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based therapy for treating dizziness, vertigo and balance problems primarily caused by disorders of the inner ear. Some examples of diagnoses that may improve with vestibular physiotherapy are BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, commonly referred to as “crystals in the ears”), vestibular neuritis, and vestibular migraine.
